About the position

The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing nursing services for residents in a long-term care and subacute rehabilitation unit. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing nursing services while ensuring compliance with regulations and facility policies. The Unit Manager also addresses staff grievances, manages medication and supply inventories, and supports staff development through training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct nursing services for residents on the assigned unit.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies and procedures.
• Review complaints and grievances made or filed by staff and report to the Director of Nursing as necessary.
• Maintain an adequate stock of medications, medical supplies, and equipment on the unit.
• Assist in developing written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident.
• Make nursing/aide assignments as indicated.
• Encourage staff participation in outside training programs and schedule appropriate times for training.
• Review nurses' notes to ensure they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care provided.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Experience in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting preferred.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, residents, and families.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Certification in geriatric nursing or related field.
