The Production Manager position is a pivotal role that offers an exceptional opportunity for individuals with substantial operational experience in chemical and refinery processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing budgets, staff, and operating assets, ensuring that all operations align with organizational targets for the assigned units. This role not only emphasizes operational excellence but also provides a platform for showcasing leadership capabilities in a dynamic environment. In this role, the Production Manager will be directly accountable for ensuring that the assigned units operate in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, extending this commitment to the surrounding communities. As a member of the site Leadership Team, the Production Manager will play a crucial role in establishing plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the assigned units. The position requires a proactive approach to achieving operating plan targets while maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Production Manager will lead by example, creating a working environment built on trust and collaboration, which is essential for driving a diverse and high-performing team. This includes planning and directing production activities, establishing production priorities, and executing daily operating plans within safe limits. The role also involves leading cross-functional teams in employee development, succession planning, and performance management, ensuring that the Daily Execution Team is well-equipped to meet operational demands. Additionally, the Production Manager will be responsible for optimizing asset performance through effective coordination with Maintenance, Reliability, and Strategic teams. This includes driving reliability improvements, participating in budgeting activities, and striving for continuous improvement in cost efficiency and safety across unit operations. The ability to communicate production opportunities, constraints, and overall performance effectively to the organization is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assure assigned units conduct business in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
  • Establish plant goals, objectives, and operational budgets as part of the site Leadership Team.
  • Achieve operating plan targets and operate assets safely and compliantly.
  • Lead by example to create a trusting and high-performing team environment.
  • Plan and direct production activities, establishing production priorities.
  • Execute daily operating plans within safe limits and adjust as necessary.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in employee development and performance management.
  • Direct activities of each unit to ensure efficient operations and effective results.
  • Meet business plan targets for budget, utilization, yields, energy, and EH&S.
  • Provide operational coordination for asset optimization with Maintenance and Reliability teams.
  • Drive reliability improvements and efficient Maintenance Work Processes.
  • Participate in budgeting activities and strive for continuous improvement in operations.
  • Communicate production opportunities and performance to the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
  • Strong technical capacity in the petrochemical space.
  • 8+ years of experience in chemical/refinery processes.
  • 5+ years of leadership and management experience for direct reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Olefins, Refining, or C4 processing.
