About the position

Vibra Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Unit Secretary Clerk to join our team in Crown Point, IN. This full-time position operates during the day shift and plays a crucial role in the efficient functioning of our hospital. Vibra Hospital of Northwestern Indiana is a 40-bed Critical Care Hospital that specializes in providing long-term acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. Our facility is designed to cater to patients with complex medical conditions, including trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular diseases, strokes, amputations, and ventilator weaning. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we pride ourselves on creating a fast-paced yet friendly work environment where staff can build meaningful relationships with patients and their families. The Unit Secretary Clerk will be responsible for managing the orderly flow of unit and patient-related data. This includes handling communications through telephone calls, written messages, and the organization and completion of various charts, requisitions, reports, and other forms. The role requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to make independent decisions when necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and regulatory standards, along with excellent organizational and analytical skills. This position is vital to ensuring that our healthcare team can provide the highest quality of care to our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the orderly flow of unit and patient-related data.
  • Handle communications through answering and initiating telephone calls and written messages.
  • Organize and complete various charts, requisitions, reports, and other forms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a unit secretary course or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year experience in a medical clerical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
  • Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
