About the position

Vibra Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Unit Secretary Clerk to join our team at Vibra Hospital of Northwestern Indiana, a 40-bed Critical Care Hospital located in Crown Point, IN. Our hospital specializes in providing long-term acute care services to patients recovering from serious illnesses or injuries. We cater to patients with medically complex conditions such as trauma, infectious diseases, wound healing, cardiovascular disease, stroke, amputation, and ventilator weaning. As a smaller, specialized hospital, we pride ourselves on offering a fast-paced and friendly work environment where our staff can build meaningful relationships with patients and their families. In this role, the Unit Secretary Clerk will be responsible for directing the orderly flow of unit and patient-related data. This includes managing communications through answering and initiating telephone calls, handling written messages, and organizing and completing various charts, requisitions, reports, and other forms. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills, and will be able to make independent decisions when necessary. A successful candidate will also have a working knowledge of computer and software applications relevant to the job functions. Responsibilities

  • Direct the orderly flow of unit and patient-related data.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a unit secretary course or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year experience in a medical clerical field preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
  • Ability to project a professional image.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
  • Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
