About the position

The Unit Secretary for the Neuro Critical Care Unit at Corewell Health plays a vital role in supporting the operations of a 14-bed Intensive Care Unit located in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. This unit is part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center, which is recognized as West Michigan's largest stroke center, specializing in the care of patients with stroke and other neurological conditions. The team within this unit has cultivated a culture of collaboration, kindness, teamwork, and continuous learning, ensuring that both staff and patients thrive in a supportive environment. As a Unit Secretary, you will be responsible for performing a variety of receptionist and secretarial duties that are essential for the smooth operation of the unit. This includes maintaining confidential records, managing supplies and equipment according to hospital and unit-specific standards, and greeting and directing guests in a manner that fosters a welcoming atmosphere. You will also be tasked with computer data entry, scheduling tests and procedures, processing orders, and executing other related activities in accordance with unit and hospital standards, all within a reasonable timeframe. The position requires a commitment to a night shift schedule, beginning with daytime training before transitioning to regular night shifts. The role is designed to support the shared space of the Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU, making it essential for the Unit Secretary to be adaptable and efficient in a fast-paced environment. The Neuro ICU is dedicated to providing extraordinary care for patients with complex heart and vascular needs, and as a member of this team, you will contribute to the continuum of care that is critical for patient recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist and secretarial duties for the Neuro ICU and Surgical ICU.
  • Maintain confidential records, supplies, and equipment according to hospital standards.
  • Greet and direct guests on the unit to create a welcoming environment.
  • Perform computer entry, schedule tests and procedures, and process orders as per unit standards.
  • Support the operational needs of the unit within a reasonable timeframe.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook Calendar, Outlook email, and Microsoft Word is preferred.
