About the position

As a Unit Secretary in the Surgical department at Mercy Hospital South, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and administrative operations within the unit. This position is essential for maintaining effective communication and coordination among the healthcare team, which ultimately enhances patient care delivery and outcomes. You will be responsible for managing sensitive information with confidentiality and ensuring that all administrative tasks are executed efficiently. Your organizational skills and diligence will be key in supporting the healthcare professionals in their daily operations, allowing them to focus on providing exceptional care to patients. In this role, you will work 36 hours per week, primarily from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm, and may be required to work on days, evenings, holidays, and weekends. The environment is fast-paced and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and multitasking. You will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, making your role vital in creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Your ability to handle various administrative tasks, such as data entry, scheduling, and communication, will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the unit. Requirements

  • Prior clerical experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and HIPAA regulations preferred.
