About the position

The Unit Service Technician at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH) is a per diem role within the Emergency Department, responsible for providing a wide range of patient care services under the supervision of licensed nurses. This includes tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, and room stocking, as well as performing secretarial duties and ensuring safe transportation of patients. The position emphasizes the practice of Patient and Family Centered Care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a broad range of care and services to patients, including EKG, phlebotomy, and equipment cleaning.
• Stock and maintain rooms under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Perform secretarial duties such as organizing paperwork, answering phones, and receiving patients into the system.
• Ensure safe and accurate transportation of patients throughout the hospital.
• Perform 1:1 sitting for patients when necessary.
• Adhere to the Patient and Family Centered Care Model.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EMT Certification required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Basic math skills necessary for patient care tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant preferred.

• Experience in an Emergency setting preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
