About the position

The Unit Service Technician plays a vital role in the Emergency Department by providing a wide range of patient care services under the supervision of licensed nurses. This per diem position involves tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, and room stocking, along with various secretarial duties. The technician ensures safe transportation of patients and supports the Patient and Family Centered Care Model, contributing to a high standard of care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EKG, phlebotomy, and equipment cleaning services to patients.
  • Stock and maintain cleanliness of patient rooms.
  • Perform secretarial duties including organizing paperwork and answering phones.
  • Receive Emergency Department patients into the medi-tech computer system.
  • Transport patients safely throughout the hospital.
  • Conduct 1:1 sitting for patients when necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant license or EMT license required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant in an Emergency setting preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements.
  • Ability to enter and retrieve computerized information.
