About the position

The Unit Service Technician plays a crucial role in the Emergency Department by providing a wide range of patient care services and administrative support. This position involves direct patient interaction, performing tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and equipment cleaning, while also managing secretarial duties like organizing paperwork and patient intake. The technician ensures safe transportation of patients and supports the Patient and Family Centered Care Model, contributing to a high standard of care in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide EKG, phlebotomy, and equipment cleaning services to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Perform secretarial duties including organizing paperwork, answering phones, and patient intake into the medi-tech system.
  • Ensure safe and accurate transportation of patients throughout the hospital.
  • Conduct 1:1 sitting for patients when necessary.
  • Support the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, or current Nursing Student who has completed Fundamentals of Nursing or equivalent med/surgical clinical rotation.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required.
  • Current Patient Care Assistant Certificate or EMT license required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant in an Emergency setting.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, physically taxing environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
