About the position

The Unit Support Technician at BayCare is responsible for performing general clerical and communication duties within an assigned unit. This role includes cross-training as a Cardiac Monitor Technician, where the technician identifies normal rhythms, dysrhythmias, and lethal arrhythmias, reporting findings to appropriate personnel. The technician also provides constant visualization of at-risk patients, notifying nursing staff of any assistance needed or potential safety issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform general clerical and communication duties of the assigned unit.
• Cross-train as a Cardiac Monitor Technician to identify normal rhythms and dysrhythmias.
• Report findings of cardiac rhythms to appropriate personnel.
• Label and mount rhythm strips accurately.
• Provide constant visualization of at-risk patients and their environment.
• Notify nursing staff when patients need assistance or when safety issues arise.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent GED is essential.
• Technical Program Completion or Degree in Electrocardiography (EKG) is preferred.
• Experience in a hospital setting or as a Unit Secretary is preferred.

• Technical knowledge in Electrocardiography (EKG) is preferred.
