About the position

The Unitizer/Operator position at Pratt Industries involves operating automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, bag, or wrap corrugated containers. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of products while adhering to safety and quality standards. The position is entry-level, requiring no prior experience, and offers a supportive environment for individuals eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the unitizer and corresponding equipment, ensuring accurate placement of bands and stretch wrap.
  • Ensure proper placement of unit tags and cover sheets and correct stacking patterns.
  • Scan barcodes on units going through the unitizer.
  • Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
  • Complete necessary reports including Production, Safety and Quality Data, and Machine Operational Status.
  • Ensure unit and order quantities are correct and pull excess scrap from units.
  • Operate a forklift safely when necessary.
  • Cross-train assistants and utility helpers on duties.
  • Maintain equipment proactively and submit maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the production schedule and make recommendations for optimizing it.
  • Report any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Follow corporate Quality, Sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Forklift Operator's Certification may be required.
