About the position

The Universal Banker position at Bank Rhode Island is a full-time role based in Newport, RI, responsible for performing the duties of both a Teller and a Personal Banking Representative. This role focuses on providing excellent customer service, processing financial transactions, and developing new customer relationships while contributing to the branch's sales and service goals.

Responsibilities

• Process financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments.
• Provide excellent customer service, identify customer needs, and suggest appropriate products.
• Proactively develop new customer relationships and expand relationships with existing customers.
• Research and resolve all customer problems and inquiries.
• Interview consumer loan applicants and submit and close consumer and equity loans.
• Educate customers on all products and services and alternate delivery channels.
• Cross-sell products and services.
• Engage in outside business development activities including cold calling and community involvement.
• Contribute to the overall branch goals in sales and service.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous teller experience and cash handling experience.
• Computer experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
• Good working knowledge of all bank operating procedures, practices, and policies.
• Ability to prioritize workflow, multi-task, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
• Ability to analyze situations and solve complex issues.
