About the position

As a Universal Banker I at Columbia Bank, you will provide a comprehensive range of banking services to retail customers, focusing on both transactional and non-transactional processes. This role emphasizes personal banking options while maintaining traditional services, and it plays a crucial part in achieving branch goals.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and cashing checks.
  • Opens new deposit and checking accounts and explains these products to customers.
  • Handles deceased accounts and assists with maintenance of files and documentation.
  • Assists customers with safe deposit boxes and answers inquiries about products and services.
  • Discusses personal financial needs with customers and makes recommendations.
  • Cross sells the Bank's products and services.
  • Interacts with other Bank departments as required.
  • Services customers in person or via telephone to resolve inquiries and ensure satisfaction.
  • Explains features and benefits of online banking.
  • Prepares daily proof sheet and assists with end-of-day closing procedures.
  • Maintains accurate customer and account records and updates safe deposit box records.
  • Makes referrals to other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
  • 1-2 years of retail or customer service experience required.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, organizational, and PC skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed or scheduled.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must attend mandatory training with continued employment contingent upon passing training classes.
