About the position

As a Universal Banker I, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer experiences and assisting with a variety of banking transactions. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about customer service and financial wellness. You will engage with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions, ensuring that each interaction is handled with care and confidentiality. Your responsibilities will include not only processing transactions but also educating customers on banking products and services, thereby fostering strong relationships and promoting financial literacy. In this role, you will be expected to maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the bank's products and services, as well as the policies and procedures that govern customer service and teller operations. You will be responsible for handling transactions accurately and efficiently, while also being proactive in identifying opportunities to deepen customer relationships. This includes making referrals to other areas of the bank and participating in sales conversations that align with customer needs. You will also be required to participate in compliance training and adhere to security procedures, ensuring that all operations are conducted in accordance with regulatory standards. Your ability to communicate effectively, both in person and over the phone, will be essential in providing high-quality service and resolving customer inquiries. Overall, this position offers a dynamic work environment where you can contribute to the success of the branch while enhancing your skills in customer service and banking operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer experiences and assist with everyday transactions.
  • Help with customer resolution and financial wellness through needs-based conversations.
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training.
  • Adhere to all security procedures and follow operational bulletins.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of banking products and services.
  • Handle each transaction with care, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
  • Provide efficient, accurate, and high-quality service while maintaining good customer relations.
  • Answer customer inquiries and provide account information and updates as requested.
  • Educate customers on options for managing transactions using technology and other resources available.
  • Engage customers in conversations to uncover opportunities to deepen the relationship and promote financial wellness.
  • Make referrals to other areas of the bank as necessary.
  • Assist other staff in serving customers and performing other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one-year retail experience.
  • Proficient computer operation skills and ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Great interpersonal skills in dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Great telephone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to uncover and provide solutions to meet customer needs and provide resolutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a banking or financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures pertaining to customer service and teller operations.
