About the position

The Universal Banker II is responsible for managing and staffing the Universal Banker I's, overseeing the Teller Line, and ensuring adherence to sales and service standards. This role involves participating in branch operations, providing exceptional client service, and identifying sales opportunities while handling various banking transactions. The position also includes coaching team members and managing client relationships to enhance the overall client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and staff the Universal Banker I's and perform audit functions.
  • Oversee the Teller Line to meet sales and service standards, providing coaching as needed.
  • Participate in branch opening and closing procedures and manage branch operations in the absence of the Retail Relationship Manager.
  • Perform functions of the Universal Banker I's as required by staffing and client traffic.
  • Provide exceptional service to existing and potential clients, managing the full client experience efficiently.
  • Develop, expand, and manage consumer and business account relationships, focusing on client needs for financial products.
  • Participate in ongoing training and regular sales meetings, and be willing to cross-train for various duties.
  • Process routine and complex transactions such as account openings, deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments.
  • Assist with daily branch operations including reporting, audits, and cash management.
  • Identify clients with profit potential and develop action plans to expand these relationships.
  • Refer business to partners and support the implementation of the Kearny Bank Client Experience.
  • Deliver strategic insights to improve client experience and resolve client criticisms in a timely manner.
  • Coach the sales process and hold the team accountable for sales objectives.
  • Conduct individual coaching sessions with team members quarterly, focusing on production goals and service standards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or comparable professional training is required.
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years of Retail Banking experience.
  • Ability to meet/exceed client experience needs and identify client/project needs.
  • Knowledge of bank's products, services, and cash management services.
  • Ability to model relationship-building techniques and effectively cross-sell.
  • Ability to resolve client questions and complaints.
  • Strong team player with effective communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in team development and coaching.
  • Familiarity with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and compliance.
