About the position

The University of Michigan Network Regulatory/RE Co-Op position at Verizon is a 6-month full-time opportunity designed for students to gain hands-on experience in the technical program management of network infrastructure projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the design, permitting, and construction of 5G network towers and small cell infrastructure. Interns will work under the mentorship of Principal Engineers, contributing to impactful projects while developing essential skills in project management and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, permitting, and construction of tower and small cell infrastructure for the 5G network.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable the 5G network build.
  • Lead or work on multiple small to medium projects or one large project.
  • Perform project management activities, maintain project trackers, and facilitate area-wide project calls.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve real estate and lease-related issues to meet deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams to identify new network tower and data hub locations.
  • Develop resolutions to complex problems requiring creativity and decision-making.
  • Facilitate meetings and compose presentations.
  • Review proposed agreements and work with legal and management to interpret and evaluate them.
  • Negotiate with landlords, their agents, and vendors to meet contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Interface with city permitting officials and/or departments of public service.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a qualifying bachelor's degree program at the University of Michigan.
  • Good academic standing in a relevant major such as Engineering, Business, or Environmental Studies.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel and work in an assigned Verizon office.
