About the position

The University of Michigan is conducting a research study aimed at improving teen driving safety through a program called 'Teen-Parent Countermeasure for Teen Risky Driving.' This study invites Level 2 and Level 3 teen drivers and their parents/guardians to participate in a series of virtual appointments and driving assessments over a four-week period. The goal is to evaluate resources designed to enhance driving safety for teens by utilizing an Intelligent Speed Assist (ISA) system and a driving app.

Responsibilities

  • Complete three virtual appointments with the study team.
  • Download and use a driving app during the study.
  • Drive a household vehicle equipped with an ISA system for four weeks.
  • Provide trip logs and summaries from the driving app during appointments.
  • Complete online surveys about driving behavior every three days.
  • Participate in interviews to provide feedback about the study.

Requirements

  • Teen must be aged 16-17.
  • Must have a valid Level 2 or Level 3 driver's license.
  • Access to a household vehicle equipped with an ISA system.
  • Willingness to download, subscribe to, and use a driving app.
  • Consent to allow investigators access to driving scores and records.

Benefits

  • Parents will be paid up to $75 and teens will be paid up to $125, distributed across study visits.
