About the position

The University Police Officer at Florida Polytechnic University is responsible for providing professional law enforcement services to the university community. This role involves protecting public safety, preventing and investigating criminal acts, and maintaining law and order on campus. The officer is expected to interact positively with colleagues and the public, demonstrating integrity and professionalism in all duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all essential duties of a Police Officer, responding to major incidents and coordinating with other agencies.
  • Patrol assigned areas on foot and in vehicles to ensure the safety of the university community and facilities.
  • Respond to incidents, accidents, alarms, and emergencies, evaluating situations and providing first aid as necessary.
  • Manage crowd control during emergencies and special events, ensuring safety and security.
  • Participate in special assignments such as surveillance and intelligence gathering based on crime trends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience as a police officer in Florida.
  • Completion of 360 hours of advanced specialized training approved by the State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
  • Valid driver's license and FDLE Basic Law Enforcement Academy certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate degree or higher in criminal justice preferred.
  • One year of experience in a university police department preferred.
