About the position

The University Videographer and Photographer at Texas Wesleyan University is responsible for leading the creation and promotion of video, audio, and photography content that enhances the university's marketing and communication efforts. This role involves designing, shooting, and producing multimedia content that aligns with the university's brand guidelines and supports its major initiatives. The position requires collaboration with marketing and communications staff, as well as training university personnel on brand usage, while maintaining a strong institutional image through various media formats.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead videographer, photographer, and editor for university projects.
  • Plan, produce, and direct video filming and photography sessions for major events.
  • Design and edit motion graphics and photos in collaboration with the Sr. Brand Manager.
  • Film university b-roll and aerial footage using a drone.
  • Evaluate creative options for visual approaches to university videos and photography.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to develop commercials and social media content.
  • Maintain effective operation of the video office, including scheduling and managing daily operations.
  • Conduct equipment research and manage budget for video/audio/photography accounts.
  • Supervise and direct contract videographers, photographers, and editors as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a video and photo library, classifying and cataloging items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism, photojournalism, digital media, visual media arts, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in video, photo, and motion graphic production.
  • Strong portfolio in video, audio, and photo editing, including post-production skills.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Apple Final Cut Pro X.
  • Familiarity with HD video cameras and ability to produce quality HD video.

Nice-to-haves

  • Drone license preferred.
  • Knowledge of keyword optimization and search positioning for social media.
  • Experience with social media video formats like Instagram Reels and TikTok.
