About the position

The Unix/Linux Administrator at SAIC will play a crucial role in supporting the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) by managing and optimizing enterprise IT capabilities. This position involves ensuring the security and availability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, coordinating with various IT functions, and implementing best practices to meet government objectives. The role is essential for maintaining the integrity of classified information systems and supporting national security efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and tune Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems to ensure high availability and security.
  • Familiarity with VMware virtualization technologies.
  • Utilize Tenable ACAS for vulnerability management.
  • Employ Ansible automation tools and scripting languages such as Bash.
  • Manage DNSSEC key solutions including certificate maintenance.
  • Ensure RHEL system provisioning aligns with DISA and NIST guidelines.
  • Coordinate with network engineering and database administration to implement Unix systems.
  • Install and configure RHEL systems and software.
  • Implement security policies and procedures for Unix systems.
  • Perform configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for file systems and applications.
  • Conduct system configuration backups and restores.
  • Test data backups and restores in collaboration with the storage team.
  • Review and deploy Unix system releases and vendor patches.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-based problems on Unix systems.
  • Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Preserve and provide system log files as needed.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience (10+ years) in related field.
  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Required Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., CompTIA Security + w/CE).
  • Experience with administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9.
  • Knowledge of operating systems, networks, and services.
  • Experience managing changes to systems and assessing security impacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience with Ansible and Satellite.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability mitigation techniques.
  • Shell scripting experience in Bash, Korn, and Python.
