About the position

In this position, you will be tasked with recommending and setting up advanced server architectures that include VPN, Solaris/Checkpoint firewalls, and Apache-based web server farms. Your role will involve working closely with clients to perform comprehensive needs assessments and resource allocations. You will be responsible for developing detailed implementation plans and executing them effectively. Additionally, you will be expected to establish and implement best practices in various systems, including tape backup systems, X-windows, Openwindows, and remote access protocols such as telnet and SSH. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions that meet client needs.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and set up advanced server architectures including VPN, Solaris/Checkpoint firewalls, and Apache-based web server farms.
• Perform needs assessments and resource allocations for clients.
• Develop detailed implementation plans and execute them effectively.
• Establish and implement best practices in tape backup systems, X-windows, Openwindows, and remote access protocols including telnet/SSH.

Requirements

• Solid experience in designing and implementing Unix networking environments (Solaris, Linux, HP/UX) and server farms.
• Thorough understanding of BIND/DNS, Sendmail, DHCP, NIS, and NFS.
• Knowledge and experience with Sun hardware.
• Experience with Windows NT/2000 Server is a plus.
