About the position

Tech Fundamentals is a FREE training program designed to provide virtual instruction to individuals seeking to launch their careers in technology. This program is committed to serving those who need it the most, particularly military veterans and young adults from underserved communities. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that spans up to 20 weeks of instructor-led virtual training, equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge in the tech field. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a paid internship or a project-based learning experience, allowing them to apply their skills in real-world settings. Upon completion of the program, participants can earn industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+ and a Google IT Support Certificate, as well as an IT Generalist Apprenticeship credential. The program also provides exposure to leading technologies from companies such as Microsoft, Cisco, and AWS, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the demands of the tech industry. In addition to technical training, the program includes mentoring from senior-level IT professionals, employment readiness workshops, and job placement assistance, giving participants access to a wide range of top employers. Furthermore, the Tech Fundamentals program offers access to financial assistance and resources to help with housing, childcare, and other essential needs, making it a holistic approach to supporting individuals in their journey towards economic prosperity and digital careers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in up to 20 weeks of instructor-led virtual training.
  • Engage in a paid internship or project-based learning experience.
  • Earn industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Google IT Support Certificate.

Requirements

  • Must be 18-26 years of age or over 21 if a military veteran or spouse.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • For military veterans or spouses: must be transitioning active-duty servicemember through the DoD SkillBridge program, honorably discharged, or a member of the Guard or Reserves.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in technology or IT-related fields is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operations and software applications.
