About the position

BearCom is seeking an Upfit Installation Technician to install emergency warning equipment and other technologies in police, fire, and public works vehicles. The role involves working with various vehicle types and requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and installation processes. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all installations meet safety and operational standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation of emergency warning equipment.
• Test and troubleshoot emergency warning equipment.
• Install vehicle lighting, controls, sirens, cameras, and electronic locks.
• Dismantle vehicle interiors and exteriors to prepare for installation.
• Install radio communications systems, antennas, and GPS equipment.
• Install electrical wiring and connect electrical fittings.
• Drill holes, solder, and modify vehicles for emergency equipment.
• Complete installations for a diverse range of vehicle makes and models.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment as necessary.
• Maintain and track materials for jobs.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Experience or knowledge of vehicle audio systems, mobile video systems, and vehicle security systems is a plus.
• Ability to use hand tools, volt meter, power tools, and drill press.
• General knowledge of electrical diagrams.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must have a collection of personal tools to perform required tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in installation and troubleshooting of two-way radios, sirens, and warning lights.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with public safety vehicular equipment.
