About the position

As a Service Technician II at Wabash, you will engage in a variety of high-level activities within the truck body industry. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including diagnosing and repairing truck body and van electrical and hydraulic issues. You will be tasked with disassembling and reassembling all sections of the truck body, performing body mounts, and executing upfitting tasks. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all repairs and modifications meet the required standards, and you will be expected to work with minimal supervision while demonstrating advanced mechanical and electrical skills. In this position, you will complete non-standard upfit jobs and service repair work that may require problem-solving, fabrication, and electrical/hydraulic troubleshooting. You will also be responsible for chassis preparation, minor modifications, body mount repairs, and liftgate installations, all while adhering to Wabash's quality and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards. Collaboration within a team environment is essential, and you will need to read work orders thoroughly, ensuring that you have the correct components and vehicle for each assigned job. Additionally, mobile repair work at customer locations may be required, and you will perform other duties as assigned by management. The role requires physical stamina, as you will be standing, bending, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods. You will also need to lift and carry weights of up to 55 pounds and work in various environments, including tight spaces under trucks and vans. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to operate a variety of power and hand tools safely, as well as utilize personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Complete non-standard Upfit jobs and service repair work that may require problem solving, fabrication, electrical / hydraulic troubleshooting and sometimes creative solutions while continually developing skillsets for continued growth
  • Chassis prep (minor modifications) / body mount / repair / 12v electrical / liftgate install, and quality inspection activities while adhering to all Wabash quality and EHS standards
  • Follow all Wabash WPO guidelines and attain all certifications necessary for job role
  • Work in a team environment
  • Read the work order completely, check the VIN on the vehicle to ensure you have the correct components and vehicle for the assigned job
  • Mobile repair work (customer locations)
  • Perform other duties assigned by management
  • Capability to install liftgates of all makes and models

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Advanced mechanical and 12v electrical skills with welding experience
  • Truck body or equipment manufacturing repair and ability to troubleshoot / problem solve with minimal supervision
  • Capability to work off scaffolding up to ten to twelve feet
  • Must have a current driver's license
