About the position

As an Upfit Technician at Wabash, you will engage in a variety of high-level activities related to the assembly and repair of truck bodies and trailers. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of truck body and van electrical and hydraulic systems. You will be responsible for disassembling and reassembling all sections of the truck body, including body mounts and upfitting, while diagnosing and repairing issues as they arise. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all repairs are performed to the highest standards, maintaining safety and efficiency throughout the process. The position demands a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, along with intermediate mechanical skills and preferred welding experience. A valid driver's license is essential for this role. You will be expected to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating your ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively. Additionally, the role may require you to work off scaffolding at heights of ten to twelve feet, which necessitates a strong focus on safety and adherence to Wabash's WPO guidelines. In this position, you will work collaboratively within a team environment, ensuring that all repairs and procedures are completed safely and in a timely manner. Before starting any assignment, you will need to thoroughly read the work order and verify the vehicle's VIN to ensure you have the correct components for the job. Mobile repair work at customer locations may also be part of your responsibilities, along with any other duties assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Wabash Nationals WPO guidelines and attain all required certifications.
  • Work safely and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Perform repairs and procedures in a safe and timely manner.
  • Read the work order completely before beginning an assignment.
  • Check the VIN on the vehicle to ensure correct components and vehicle for the assigned job.
  • Conduct mobile repair work at customer locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate mechanical skills and knowledge.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience in truck body or equipment manufacturing repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work off scaffolding at heights of ten to twelve feet.
