About the position

The Upper Elementary Spanish Immersion Teacher at NorthPointe Christian Schools is responsible for delivering an engaging and effective Spanish immersion curriculum to upper elementary students. This role emphasizes the integration of Biblical principles into teaching and aims to equip students to impact their world for Jesus Christ. The teacher will create lesson plans, assess student progress, and foster a respectful and caring classroom environment while collaborating with colleagues and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily teaching.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for students in accordance with the curriculum goals and policies.
  • Create and submit daily lesson plans every week.
  • Plan learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated objectives.
  • Prepare lessons, units, and projects suitable for the age level and developmental needs of students.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs and learning styles of students.
  • Create, assign, and grade assessments and assignments for students.
  • Define responsible Christian behavior for students, including guidelines and consequences for behavior in the classroom.
  • Help students learn self-discipline through appropriate encouragement, correction, and counseling.
  • Promote a healthy peer environment among students.
  • Communicate positively and regularly with parents and guardians about their child's progress.
  • Professionally represent the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Set up and maintain a safe and effective learning environment in the classroom.
  • Provide supervision to students in the classroom and hallways.
  • Participate in required meetings, school-wide trainings, and events as requested by administration.
  • Collaborate with grade level team and ESS and MTSS teams regarding student needs and interventions.

Requirements

  • Bilingual Spanish Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree, minimum
  • Valid Teaching Certificate
  • Active Christian in agreement with NorthPointe Christian School's Foundational statements
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening
  • Bilingual: Advanced to superior level if non-native Spanish speaker

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with differentiated instruction and project-based learning
  • Ability to work with a variety of students, individually and in small groups
  • Familiarity with a 1:1 MacBook system
