Sylvan Learning is seeking passionate and dedicated Upper Level Math Instructors to join our team in Southern California. In this part-time role, you will be responsible for teaching upper-level math concepts, including Algebra, Calculus, and SAT/ACT preparation, in a small group setting with a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio. You will not need to prepare lesson plans or materials, as you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and provided with the necessary tools to facilitate effective learning. Your primary focus will be on delivering engaging instruction, motivating students, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. As an Upper Level Math Instructor, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on students' educational journeys. You will supervise and interact with students during instruction, reward them for their achievements, evaluate their progress, and communicate their needs to the center director. Responsibilities
- Teach using Sylvan based programs
- Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour while they work with equipment and materials
- Reward students for completed assignments
- Evaluate and document student progress
- Communicate student needs to the center director
- Inspire students
- Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree or in the process
- Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in the areas of calculus, algebra 1 & 2, geometry and trigonometry
- 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
