About the position
The Upperbody Design Engineer role at Honda involves collaborating with various cross-functional teams to develop automotive body structures and components. The position focuses on ensuring that designs meet customer expectations while balancing factors such as marketability, styling, safety, reliability, and manufacturing requirements. The engineer will work with a variety of materials and manufacturing processes, contributing to both structural and styled parts in the cabin area, and may also engage in research and development of new technologies.
Responsibilities
- Create and/or manage creation of 3D models, layouts, and 2D drawings using CATIA.
- Correlate and negotiate with internal Honda contacts including other design departments, test departments, styling studio, factories, and purchasing.
- Lead part development activities with suppliers, setting design targets and confirming prospects to achieve requirements.
- Support part and vehicle verification, including developing countermeasures as necessary.
- Estimate and manage part cost, weight, and investment throughout development, including review of supplier quotes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in CATIA or other 3D CAD software.
- Self-motivated and organized with multitasking abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
