The Urgent Care Medical Assistant/Receptionist at Emerson Hospital plays a crucial role in providing patient care and supporting the operational functions of the Urgent Care Center. Reporting directly to the Practice Manager and working under the supervision of the Physician(s), this position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to delivering high-quality care to patients. The Medical Assistant/Coordinator will assist in implementing care plans, ensuring that established standards and practices are followed in the urgent care setting. This role requires a collaborative approach, as the UCCMA/C will support physicians in treating a variety of ailments while also assisting front office staff with administrative duties. In this position, the Medical Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks that include patient interaction, administrative support, and clinical duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urgent care or a related healthcare environment, with a minimum of one year of experience. Phlebotomy experience is highly preferred, as the role involves drawing blood and performing laboratory procedures. The Medical Assistant will also be expected to maintain accurate patient records, manage scheduling, and handle medical billing and coding tasks. Strong communication skills are essential, as the UCCMA/C will interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff on a daily basis, addressing any concerns and providing exceptional customer service. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or CCMA). CPR/BLS certification is also required, with the expectation that it will be obtained within four months of hire. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, and possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills are vital for managing the demands of this role effectively.
