The Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant at UrgentVet plays a crucial role in providing high-quality after-hours care for canine and feline patients. This position involves assisting in various urgent care tasks, ensuring outstanding patient care, and delivering excellent client service in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art clinic environment. The ideal candidate will be part of a dedicated team, contributing to the clinic's mission of bridging the gap between general practice and emergency care.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing patient care and support to veterinary staff.
- Perform animal handling and patient restraint during examinations and treatments.
- Conduct laboratory tests and assist with sample collection and analysis.
- Provide client education regarding pet care and clinic services.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic and equipment.
- Support the veterinary team in various clinical tasks, including catheter placement and phlebotomy.
Requirements
- Experience in animal handling and patient restraint.
- Proficiency in clinical skills such as phlebotomy and catheter placement.
- Prior experience in a veterinary hospital setting.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with cloud-based EMR systems.
- Knowledge of laboratory analysis and drug calculation.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced veterinary environment.
