About the position
The Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant at UrgentVet plays a crucial role in providing high-quality after-hours care for canine and feline patients. This position involves assisting in various urgent care tasks, ensuring outstanding patient care, and delivering excellent client service in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be part of a dedicated team, contributing to the clinic's mission of bridging the gap between general practice and emergency care.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing patient care and support in a fast-paced urgent care clinic.
- Perform animal handling tasks including patient restraint and sample collection.
- Conduct clinical skills such as phlebotomy, catheter placement, and laboratory analysis.
- Educate clients on pet care and clinic services.
- Maintain the facility and ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Support team leadership and collaborate with veterinary staff.
Requirements
- Experience in animal handling and patient restraint.
- Proficiency in clinical skills including phlebotomy and catheter placement.
- Prior customer service experience in a veterinary or healthcare setting.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with laboratory analysis and drug calculation.
- Familiarity with cloud-based EMR and digital x-ray systems.
