About the position

The Direct Care Staff (DCS) / Caregiver position at Zuha Homes, Inc. involves providing essential care to clients with intellectual and physical disabilities in a home-like environment. This part-time role is specifically for the PM shift on weekends, focusing on assisting clients with daily living needs and ensuring their comfort and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Provides clients with help moving in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs, and with dressing and grooming/showering and diaper changing (every 2 hours or as needed).
• Ensures clients are clean, dry, and all essential adaptive equipment is properly in place such as arm splints, seat belts, and abdominal binders.
• Follows the training program as outlined in the client's Individual Service Plan (ISP).
• Respects and promotes the individual rights of clients including maintaining the dignity of each person during daily care procedures.
• Provides direct client care and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or nursing staff.
• Preparing nutritional meals for clients.
• Washing clients' clothes/bedding.
• Managing behaviors.
• Showering clients.
• Monitoring clients during all waking hours.
• Maintain a clean facility (sweeping/mopping).
• Be willing to improve skills through training and education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow directions, both written and oral to perform duties.
• Interest and concern for people with developmental disabilities and possess sufficient patience and understanding to deal with their special needs.
• Must attend scheduled In-Service training and various other training as required.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff in all departments.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Experience in caregiving is preferred but not required.
