About the position

The Data Modeler/Architect position is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL, focused on leading data technology initiatives and providing expert solutions for enterprise clients. The role involves designing and modernizing data architectures, engaging with stakeholders, and contributing to the development of data offerings and talent within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a data technology leader and subject matter expert in various data technologies and applications.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by integrating appropriate Data and AI solutions for enterprise clients.
  • Conduct assessments of product or platform-based data landscapes and provide solutions for modernization and integration on Hyperscaler platforms.
  • Engage with business and technology stakeholders to gather information and clarify client expectations through workshops.
  • Provide technical vision and subject matter expertise to address business issues and priorities.
  • Design enterprise data platforms on cloud services (Azure/AWS/GCP) including ETL pipelines, Data Modeling, Visualization, and Data Governance.
  • Act as an expert troubleshooter for escalations or urgent situations in delivery or data proposals.
  • Contribute to the development of offerings, solutions, and automation accelerators while nurturing next-generation data talent.
  • Collaborate with vertical/account teams to pursue new data opportunities and expand existing engagements.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Data Solution Architect or similar role in building data architecture and data models using Azure services or similar AWS/GCP services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Erwin Data Modelling tool.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts for OLAP and OLTP systems.
  • Proficient in data analysis using SQL.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to align technology with business priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • A balanced mix of technical and business skills, with experience working with an enterprise architecture team for strategic direction.
  • Ability to develop and drive domain/application standards and best practices that align with enterprise direction.
  • Understanding of Agile development and execution methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data consumption design patterns such as semantic layers and visualizations.
  • Knowledge of Medallion Architecture.
