About the position

A urology group at a large health system in South Carolina is excited to welcome 3 urologists to their practice. This opportunity is ideal for both general urologists and subspecialists in urologic oncology, GURS, and FPMRS. The incoming urologists will be busy with immediate patient volume, ensuring a fulfilling and productive practice from the start. This health system is a private nonprofit entity and stands as the largest healthcare organization in South Carolina, providing a robust support system for its medical staff. The health sciences center is comprised of academic partnerships with four universities in the state, enhancing the educational environment and opportunities for collaboration. The hospital highlights include a system-wide capacity of 2947 beds, 18 total hospitals, and 298 physician practice sites across 12 campuses and acute-care hospitals. With 1815 employed physicians and 63 residency and fellowship programs, the organization offers a comprehensive and dynamic medical community. The position highlights include one urologic oncology opening and two open general urology positions that would also be suitable for GURS and FPMRS subspecialists. There is potential for a leadership role available, and the call schedule is 1:5, covering two hospitals. The practice is equipped with three robotic systems between the two hospitals, and robotics experience is preferred. Competitive compensation is offered, and teaching will be required upon the start of the urology residency program, contributing to the educational mission of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive urologic care to patients in a busy practice setting.
  • Participate in the teaching of residents and fellows as part of the academic partnership.
  • Engage in surgical procedures, including robotic surgeries, as part of the urologic oncology and general urology practice.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as per the established schedule.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited urology residency program.
  • Board certification or eligibility in urology.
  • Robotics experience preferred, especially for urologic oncology procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and colleagues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in subspecialties such as GURS and FPMRS.
