About the position

The position involves data transformation and integration, focusing on extracting and processing data from various sources to support business needs. The role requires developing data models, writing code for solutions, and ensuring data governance practices are followed. The candidate will work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable projects and provide recommendations for improving data processes.

Responsibilities

  • Extract data from identified databases and create data pipelines.
  • Transform data to a relevant structure using appropriate techniques.
  • Support understanding of priority order of requirements and service level agreements.
  • Identify suitable data sources and perform initial data quality checks.
  • Analyze complex data elements and contribute to data models.
  • Develop logical and physical data models, including data warehouse designs.
  • Define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures.
  • Evaluate existing data models for discrepancies and develop efficient data flows.
  • Write code to develop required solutions and application features.
  • Create test cases and proofs of concept, and test code using appropriate approaches.
  • Deploy software to production servers and maintain documentation.
  • Provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex issues.
  • Develop business cases for projects with projected ROI or cost savings.
  • Translate business requirements into projects and align with overall strategy.
  • Establish and document data governance projects and practices.
  • Educate others on data governance processes and policies.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders to support business solutions.
  • Create training documentation and train end-users on data modeling.
  • Oversee tasks of less experienced programmers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years' experience in software engineering, or 4 years' experience in software engineering, or a Master's degree in Computer Science.
  • Proficiency in Hadoop, Scala, Spark, Cloud, Python/PySpark, Java, Streaming, Kafka, and Backend development.
  • Experience with data modeling and data migration protocols.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like GCP or Azure.
  • Experience with data warehousing and BI tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Databricks and Snowflake.
  • Hands-on knowledge in NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB and RDBMS like MySQL, Postgres.
  • Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka.
