About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, adhering to appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products, removing damaged or expired items, and organizing product displays. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise to prevent loss. In this position, you will also ensure compliance with company policies and procedures by properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions, and maintaining accurate documentation. You will monitor the prescription fulfillment process, addressing any issues that arise, such as processing third-party insurance claims and alerting patients to inventory shortages. Your role will involve assisting pharmacists in the prescription fulfillment process, which includes processing orders, managing paperwork, and providing excellent customer service to patients and members. You will enter prescription data into pharmacy software, ensuring accuracy in transcribing information and creating or modifying patient records. Filling prescriptions will be a key responsibility, requiring you to retrieve orders, measure medications, and label containers accurately. You will assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying information and ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Your ability to collaborate with managers and co-workers will be essential in completing work assignments and addressing improvement opportunities. Overall, your commitment to ethical practices and adherence to company standards will contribute to the pharmacy's professional reputation and the well-being of its members.

Responsibilities

  • Process member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware.
  • Maintain merchandise presentation in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating merchandise and supplies.
  • Handle claims and returns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and resolve problems in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Promote and maintain the Pharmacy's professional reputation by assisting in the prescription fulfillment process.
  • Provide patient/member service in the Pharmacy area by acknowledging member needs and assisting with prescription orders.
  • Enter prescription data into pharmacy software accurately.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving orders and measuring medications.
  • Assist members during prescription pick-up by verifying patient information.
  • Complete work assignments and priorities by collaborating with managers and co-workers.

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure as required by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
