About the position

As a Pharmacy Technician at Sam's Club, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy department. Your primary responsibilities will include processing member purchases through cash registers and related hardware, while adhering to the appropriate procedures for various payment types and items sold. You will maintain the presentation of merchandise in the pharmacy by stocking and rotating products received from distribution centers and suppliers, removing any damaged or out-of-date goods, and organizing product displays. Additionally, you will be responsible for securing fragile and high-shrink merchandise to prevent loss. In this position, you will also ensure that the pharmacy area complies with company policies and procedures. This includes properly handling claims and returns, utilizing equipment for merchandising functions such as pricing and verifying merchandise on hand, and maintaining a safe work environment. You will monitor and resolve issues in the prescription fulfillment process, which may involve processing information for third-party insurance claims, alerting patients to inventory shortages, and identifying situations that require the pharmacist's intervention. Providing excellent patient/member service is a key aspect of your role. You will assist the pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process, process third-party insurance claims, and help patients with their prescription orders and purchases. Your responsibilities will also include entering prescription data into pharmacy software, filling prescriptions accurately, and assisting members during prescription pick-up by verifying and entering patient information into the system. You will complete work assignments by collaborating with managers, co-workers, and customers, identifying priorities and deadlines, and adapting to changes and feedback. Compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity is essential, and you will be expected to implement related action plans in your daily tasks.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, including minimum age and certification.
  • Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
