About the position

The position involves designing, building, testing, and deploying innovative data solutions that impact millions of customers globally. The role requires collaboration with engineering teams and product management to drive business initiatives and enhance product features, while also focusing on data governance and cloud deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting millions of customers worldwide.
  • Drive value from data by interacting with Sam's Club engineering teams across geographies.
  • Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set priorities, and deliver product features.
  • Identify and research open source tools to deliver product features.
  • Develop and contribute to features that enable data adoption across Sam's Club.
  • Deploy and monitor products on Cloud platforms.
  • Implement best-in-class monitoring processes to ensure data applications meet SLAs.
  • Guide the team technically for end-to-end solution lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 4 - 6 years of Big data development experience.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in GCP/Azure cloud platforms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Data Engineering and complex data pipeline development.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, developing, implementing, and tuning distributed data processing pipelines.
  • Proven experience in data modeling and design with a strong understanding of data architecture principles.
  • Exposure to Data Governance including Data Quality, Metadata Management, and Security.
  • Expertise in using tools such as JUnit, TestNG, or PyUnit for unit testing and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Java, Scala, and/or Python for writing data pipelines and processing layers.
  • Proven expertise in writing complex, highly-optimized queries across large data sets.
  • Working expertise with Big Data Technologies such as Spark, Scala/PySpark, and SQL.
  • Knowledge and experience in Kafka, Spark Streaming, Druid, and Presto.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 3 years' experience in software engineering.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
  • Experience with ETL tools and working with large data sets in the cloud.
