About the position

In this role, you will be responsible for building machine learning models specifically tailored for financial applications, including forecasting and anomaly detection. You will develop methodologies that allow these solutions to scale effectively, enabling the handling of millions of time series data simultaneously. This position requires a graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience in an analytics-related field. You will work closely with our US stores and eCommerce business, aiming to enhance customer service by empowering team members, stores, and merchants through technological innovation. The focus areas of our team include customers, stores, employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. Your responsibilities will include big data processing and feature engineering, training machine learning models using cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure, and deploying these models to serve internal customers at scale. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing and training large deep learning models on GPU farms, a deep understanding of optimization theory, and the inner workings of neural networks, particularly attention architectures. You should have a proven track record of solving business problems using transformer-based neural networks and be familiar with common deep learning packages such as Pytorch, Keras, and Tensorflow. Strong software development skills in languages such as Python, SQL, R, Scala, and Java are essential, and an economic background is considered a plus. We are looking for someone with a problem-solving mindset, a can-do attitude, and the ability to face new technical challenges and delivery pressures. You should be able to clearly define problems, models, and constraints from informal and flexible business requirements, and possess a teamwork spirit with the ability to quickly adapt to new environments. At Walmart Global Tech, you will be part of a team that makes a significant impact on the retail industry. We offer a flexible, hybrid work environment that combines in-office collaboration with virtual work when not onsite. This approach enhances our ability to make quicker decisions and fosters a more flexible work-life balance. In addition to a competitive compensation package, you will have access to various benefits, including incentive awards for performance, 401(k) matching, stock purchase plans, paid maternity and parental leave, and multiple health plans. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and we believe that understanding and valuing unique styles, experiences, identities, ideas, and opinions is essential to our success.
