About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Data Science) will lead initiatives aimed at enhancing in-store customer experiences for over 240 million shoppers. This role focuses on leveraging emerging technologies, particularly in data science and computer vision, to address shrink behaviors and improve operational efficiency. The position requires a collaborative approach, working with cross-functional teams to innovate and implement solutions that meet evolving customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and develop associates by selecting, training, mentoring, and establishing performance expectations.
• Develop innovation strategies and best practices by leading technical teams and partnering with cross-functional teams.
• Lead agile teams for complex projects by translating requirements into technical solutions and ensuring on-time delivery.
• Manage the work of six to ten engineers on assigned projects, providing direction and reviewing proposed solutions.
• Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities and address high-priority initiatives.
• Lead the discovery phase of projects to develop high-level designs and validate ideas through prototypes.

Requirements

• Experience with Distributed Systems.
• Experience with Edge Computing.
• Proficiency in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence.
• Understanding of Architecture and Design patterns.
• Background in Machine Learning Engineering, particularly with ML Ops and infrastructure.
• Extensive experience with ML solutions on AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud.
• 3+ years of people management experience in multi-disciplinary global teams.
• Experience managing joint hardware-software development projects.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in computer science or related area.
• Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
