About the position

As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will be an integral part of a team focused on developing orchestration and release management tools for applications that support in-store edge services across Walmart centers. This role involves close collaboration with our U.S. stores and eCommerce business to enhance customer service through technological innovation. You will be working on a variety of projects that span across different areas including customer engagement, in-store services, merchant tools, and data science. Your contributions will directly impact how we serve our customers, whether they are shopping online or in-store. In this position, you will be responsible for translating requirements into effective solutions, writing high-quality code, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results. You will lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects, developing high-level designs and ensuring compliance with company policies and standards. Your role will also involve troubleshooting business and production issues, working closely with application engineers and data scientists to define requirements for data products, and maintaining data schemas and dictionaries. You will build and monitor data systems, ensuring the health of our big data infrastructure, and develop data APIs to support analytics and data science initiatives. This position requires a strong problem-solving ability and experience with monitoring and alerting tools, as well as familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as a service. Responsibilities

  • Translate requirements into effective software solutions.
  • Write high-quality code and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to develop high-level designs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Troubleshoot business and production issues as they arise.
  • Work with application engineers and data scientists to define requirements for data products.
  • Develop and maintain data schemas and dictionaries; define metadata.
  • Build data systems and implement data quality monitoring processes.
  • Debug and maintain data pipelines.
  • Develop data APIs to support analytics and data science products.

Requirements

  • 5 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Golang, and Docker.
  • Relational and/or NoSQL Database experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Experience with configuring or implementing Build & Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline and infrastructure as a service.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area (or equivalent experience).

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences.
  • Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and integrating digital accessibility.
