About the position

As a Software Engineer on the Sam's technology team, you will be responsible for translating requirements into effective software solutions, writing code, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role emphasizes the development of high-quality iOS mobile applications using React Native, while also ensuring performance and scalability. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to enhance the member services experience across all US Sam's clubs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to develop high-quality iOS mobile applications using React Native.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code for front end components, ensuring performance and scalability.
  • Work closely with the design team to implement pixel-perfect UI/UX designs and ensure a consistent user experience across all devices.
  • Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues related to the front end of the application.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in mobile application development and bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize feature requirements and deliver high-quality solutions on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Front-End Engineer with a focus on iOS mobile applications using React Native.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript ES6+, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, React Native, and related frameworks/libraries such as Redux, React hooks, and function components.
  • Experience with iOS development, including knowledge of Objective-C and/or Swift, is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mobile app development principles, including responsive design, performance optimization, and mobile-specific considerations.
  • Understanding of native iOS and Android integrations with React Native.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL to integrate with backend services.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with code versioning tools, specifically Git.
  • Familiarity with analytics and monitoring tools like Quantum Metrics, Grafana, Azure App Insights.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
  • Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences.
