About the position

Sam's Club eCommerce is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead technical program execution in the Scan & Go, Transactions, and Platform areas. This role involves managing large and complex initiatives that support Sam's growth and member strategies, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the eCommerce experience for members.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product managers, architects, and engineering leaders to define and scope large and complex initiatives.
  • Build Discovery and Execution plans that include coordination of numerous cross-functional teams.
  • Lead multiple teams of engineers to deliver cross-functional initiatives.
  • Identify, track, and manage risks and issues that threaten project or program success.
  • Communicate to team members, peers, and leadership in a way that supports effective program execution.
  • Drive consistency and improvement in technical program execution, including standardization of practices and tooling.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with engineering management and stakeholders, including senior leadership, business partners, and external vendors.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements, incorporating new technologies and methodologies into project management practices.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience as a technical program manager leading large and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Previous experience as a systems or software engineer, contributing to design and architecture discussions.
  • Experience in the eCommerce industry, ideally retail eCommerce, to understand the technical and functional landscape.
  • Skilled communicator comfortable communicating with senior leadership up to and including VP or SVP.
  • Several years of experience using Jira and Confluence to manage and track program execution.
  • High level of integrity and respect for individuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, or information systems.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
