About the position

The Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking a self-motivated user experience/user interface (UX/UI) product designer to join its Engineering department's design team. This role focuses on enhancing the user experience of the in-house application through user research, mockups, prototypes, and collaboration with software engineers and testing teams. The designer will play a crucial role in ensuring that stakeholder ideas are effectively translated into user-friendly solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead user research including interviews and focus groups for the in-house application.
• Observe users in their space to gain insight on how they interact with the software application and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create low to high fidelity mockups and prototypes for proposed solutions.
• Coordinate and lead user testing sessions with hospital employees to validate proposed solutions.
• Lead implementation kick-off meetings to ensure stakeholders, developers, and testers understand, implement, and verify the intended user experience.
• Provide written guidance for software engineers describing the expected behavior and UI design.
• Identify opportunities in the application that benefit from in-app guidance and create guide flow and content.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in UX/UI product design related to browser-based applications.
• Creative and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
• Experience in presenting research findings effectively.
• Value efficiency with the use of design systems aligned with frontend frameworks.
• Proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, GitHub, Vimeo, Pendo, and Productboard.
