About the position

As a User Experience (UX) Researcher you'll help us simplify complexity by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. You'll conduct usability testing and support senior researchers in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research that covers the breadth of customer experiences-proactively using insights to solve feature-level problems. Your previous experience as a researcher in software development will enable you to jump right in and design studies that inform decisions for Workiva products. You're right for this role if you are detail-oriented; collaborative and humble; have a can-do attitude; are comfortable working with large quantitative data sets; and you're naturally curious.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research throughout the product development process, from concept to release, leveraging methods such as usability testing, interviews, surveys, observation, and other techniques to understand users
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers to understand and empathize with users' processes and needs, and later test assumptions and solutions
  • Organizes, analyzes and synthesizes qualitative and quantitative data to surface key insights and findings
  • Helps deliver and advocate for user-centered, evidence-based recommendations for a variety of projects across the platform
  • Crafts needed materials for research activities, such as research plans, moderator's guides, surveys and workshop templates that align methods and scope with needs and constraints
  • Balances research rigor with agility to deliver timely, useful results
  • Define success metrics for solutions with product management and design and follow up on deployed solutions to inform future iteration
  • Collaborates with design, Product Management, and Engineering to discover and prioritize user experience opportunities with new and existing products.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in research role in software or related area
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field; an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of professional experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong research process as well as honed storytelling is required

Nice-to-haves

  • Undergraduate degree in related fields include Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Software Engineering, Psychology, and Technical Communication preferred
  • Experience turning research findings into actionable insights that influence product decisions
  • Experience working in a collaborative, Lean UX / Agile software development environment
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and collaboration skills
  • Comfort adapting in a fast-paced, highly-dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to create and maintain working relationships with a geographically distributed team
  • Experimental and iterative mindset, embracing and incorporating feedback

Benefits

  • Salary range in the US: $83,000.00 - $134,000.00
