About the position
The USPS Clerk, PSE Sales Services Distribution Associate is responsible for providing a variety of sales and customer services at the local post office. This role involves maintaining inventory, assisting customers with transactions, and ensuring a pleasant retail environment. The associate will also handle mail distribution and perform various administrative tasks related to postal services.
Responsibilities
- Perform sales and customer services at a retail window, including selling stamps and other retail products.
- Provide sales and customer service support by greeting customers and explaining store layout.
- Offer assistance in product selection and promote products based on customer needs.
- Handle and process customer purchases and returns using a point of sale system.
- Maintain the appearance of the retail lobby and ensure displays are presentable.
- Conduct product inventories and account for items on display.
- Verify presort and bulk mailings and maintain mailers' credit balances.
- Check and set postage meters.
- Rent post office boxes and conduct reference checks.
- Distribute incoming and outgoing mail based on established schemes.
- Perform passport duties as assigned, including verification of identification and application completeness.
- Maintain records of mails and perform related duties for distribution.
Requirements
- Ability to perform sales and customer service tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to assist and inform customers.
- Basic computer skills for using point of sale systems and inventory management.
- Attention to detail for handling transactions and maintaining inventory accuracy.
