About the position

The USPS Clerk, PSE Sales Services Distribution Associate is responsible for providing a variety of sales and customer services at the local post office. This role involves maintaining inventory, processing transactions, assisting customers with inquiries, and ensuring a pleasant retail environment. The associate plays a key role in promoting postal products and services while ensuring compliance with postal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform sales and customer services at a retail window, including selling stamps and other retail products.
• Provide customer service support by greeting customers and explaining store layout.
• Handle customer purchases and returns using a point of sale system.
• Maintain the appearance of the retail lobby and ensure displays are presentable.
• Conduct product inventories and account for items on display.
• Verify presort and bulk mailings and maintain mailers' credit balances.
• Check and set postage meters.
• Rent post office boxes and conduct reference checks.
• Distribute incoming and outgoing mail based on established schemes.
• Perform passport duties as assigned, including verification of identification and application completeness.

Requirements

• Ability to perform sales and customer service functions effectively.
• Experience with point of sale systems and cash handling.
• Strong communication skills to assist customers and provide information.
• Ability to maintain inventory and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
