About the position

The Utilities Civil/Environmental Engineer (FAC PROJECT MGT SPEC 3) at UC Davis is responsible for providing engineering support for various utilities operations, including wastewater treatment, water systems, and solid waste management. The role focuses on project management, regulatory compliance, and system performance evaluation to ensure safe and reliable utility services that support the university's research and teaching missions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for the Utilities civil operations, including wastewater treatment and water systems.
  • Manage projects related to utilities operations and ensure timely completion.
  • Support regulatory compliance and assist with permitting processes.
  • Evaluate system performance and support maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Assist in master planning and system assessments for future capital needs.

Requirements

  • Current registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) in California.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of water treatment, distribution, and wastewater systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil or Environmental) in California.
  • Experience with utility system operation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with permitting and regulatory compliance for utilities.
  • Project management skills for high-quality project delivery.
