About the position

The Utilities Engineer I-Sr. position at Oklahoma State University involves developing and maintaining domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer models for the Stillwater campus. The role includes project management, design work, and reviewing external applications to ensure compliance with university specifications. The engineer will also provide technical guidance to other engineers and develop design guidelines for utility systems. Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer models using modeling software.
  • Act as a project manager for design work on campus utility distribution systems.
  • Review drawings and applications from outside sources for compliance with OSU specifications.
  • Develop OSU design guidelines for domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems.
  • Provide technical direction and guidance to other engineers as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to safety requirements and promote a safe work environment.
  • Conduct fieldwork and site visits to job sites for training, classes, and meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
  • One to ten years of engineering work experience, including systems design and modeling.
  • Engineer in training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification upon hire for Utilities Engineer I - II.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Oklahoma or another state for Utilities Engineer III - Sr.
  • Valid driver's license for operating OSU vehicles.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Technologically proficient with data entry/retrieval and learning new software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in civil engineering.
  • Seven years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in domestic water or sanitary sewer systems design and modeling.
  • Prior experience working with engineers in other disciplines.
