About the position

The Utility Billing Specialist at New Prague Utilities (NPU) serves as the primary point of contact for customers, managing all aspects of the utility billing process. This role involves accurately calculating and administering utility bill activities, maintaining customer accounts, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at the service counter for Utility Billing and other city functions.
• Take customer payments over the telephone, in person, and by email.
• Perform complex reconciliation of accounts and transactions.
• Establish and terminate customer accounts, including issuing final utility bills and credit refunds.
• Use discretion when calculating penalties and adjustments to utility accounts.
• Coordinate with the Utilities Staff on meter reading issues and create service orders as needed.

Requirements

• Strong customer service skills.
• Experience in utility billing or a related field.
• Proficiency in accounting and financial reconciliation.
• Ability to handle customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
